Media Training for Parents and People with Disabilities

Twenty adolescents with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities have learned to photograph and  film during a training held recently in Chisinau.

For two days, professional experts have been training the group of participants in different methods of using the digital photo and video cameras, photography and filming techniques, photo opportunities and use of video materials, including how to send them by e-mail and place them online. These skills will enable persons with disabilities and their parents to document various aspects of their lives both within the family, circle of friends, and in society – at school, on the street, etc.

This training is part of a joint communication strategy of five NGOs which have established the Joint Media Strategy Group: Keystone Human Services International Moldova Association, the Association “Woman and Child – Protection and Support,” the Association “Somato,, the Day Care Center “Hope” and the Center for Early Intervention “Voinicel,”

The training was organized with the financial support of Open Society Institute / Health Media Initiatives with the goal of developing the skills of persons with disabilities and their parents to develop media materials with the purpose of self-representation (self-advocacy).
